Basic Information

Raymond Jackson: born near Calhoun, Richland County, Illinois on June 15, 1901, the 7th child of Jury and Annie (Powell) Jackson. He died on June 5, 1966 in Anna, Union County, Illinois and was buried in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens, Jefferson County, Illinois.

Hattie (Tucker) Jackson: was born in New Madrid, Missouri on Sept. 28, 1900, the daughter of Lewis J. and Rosa (Pickett) Tucker of New Madrid (Hattie was one of 8 children). She passed away in Mount Vernon, Illinois on Feb. 27, 2000 and was buried in the Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens, Jefferson County, Illinois.

Marriage: Raymond Jackson and Hattie (Tucker) Jackson were married on Nov. 22, 1928 in Nashville, Illinois.

Children: Raymond and Hattie had two daughters born to them: Vera Catherine (Jackson) Hayse and Rosemary. Also, Hattie had three sons by a previous marriage, who became the stepsons of Raymond and the half-brothers of Vera and Rosemary: Steven D. McKee (1920-1978), Bobbie D. McKee (1924-1990), and Thomas Lewis McKee (1922-2003).

Our Ancestors' Story - Generations 9/10

Raymond Jackson was born on the family farm of his parents, Jury and Annie Jackson, located near Calhoun, Illinois in Richland County. He married Hattie (Tucker) McKee on Nov. 22, 1928 in Nashville, Illinois. Hattie Tucker was born in New Madrid, MO on Sept 28, 1900, the daughter of Lewis J. and Rosa (Pickett) Tucker of New Madrid (Hattie was one of 8 children). When Raymond Jackson and Hattie (Tucker) Jackson married, she had three sons by a previous marriage, thus they became Raymond Jackson's stepsons: Steven D. McKee, Bobbie D. McKee, and Thomas Lewis McKee. Raymond and Hattie had two daughters born to them, Vera Catherine, born on Dec. 22, 1932, and another daughter born in 1940. Vera Catherine (Jackson) Hayse (1932-2015) married Ancel J. Hayse (1932-2017) and they had three daughters and one son born to them; the other daughter of Raymond and Hattie Jackson also married and raised three daughters with her husband. These descendants form the ongoing family lineage of Raymond and Hattie Jackson. Raymond and Hattie resided in Mt. Vernon throughout their lives where Raymond was employed in the automotive industry. Raymond Jackson passed away on June 6, 1966 and was buried in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Hattie (Tucker) Jackson died on Feb. 27, 2000 and was also buried in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
