Euris Jackson: born on Dec. 29, 1886 in Oblong Township, Illinois, a son of Jury and Annie (Powell) Jackson. Euris had 7 siblings; he died in 1981 and was buried in Kirkwood, MO.
Ethel Doris Ruby: born on Oct. 2, 1885 in Richland County, near Sumner, Illinois, a daughter of George and Ellen (Hillis) Ruby. Ethel had 5 siblings; she died in 1969 and was buried in Kirkwood, MO.
Marriage: Euris and Ruby were married on June 7, 1908 in the Ruby family home in Richland County, near Sumner, Illinois.
Children (3): Beulah Jackson (1909-1932), Max Eugene Jackson (1911-1998), and Robert Conrad Jackson (1919-2002).
The following historical account was written in 1977 by Max Jackson, son of Euris Jackson:
"Euris Jackson and Ethel Doris Ruby, born October 2, 1885, were married in her mother's home in Richland County, near Sumner, Illinois on June 7, 1908. Ethel had graduated from Sumner High School and taught at No. 1 Mulberry School for three years.
Euris attended school after his marriage, receiving an A.B. degree at Illinois State Normal University and a B.S. at the University of Illinois. At Washington University, St. Louis Mo., he received an M.A. in Education, and was a member of the Honorary Fraternity, Phi Delta Kappa. He worked toward his Doctorate at Colorado University, but did not complete his thesis.
He taught school in Hayward , Oklahoma (near Enid) for one year, 1909, was Principal of a four-room school in Calhoun, Illinois, was Superintendent in Chandlerville, Ill. from 1914-1918, was Principal and taught math two years in Tallula, Ill., was High School Principal for four years in Mt. Olive, Illinois, then moved to Webster Groves, Missouri in 1926, where he lived and was a teacher and administrator in the St. Louis Public Schools until 1956.
At 70 years of age, St. Louis Public Schools retired him in December, 1956. In January, 1957, he became Director of Student Teaching at St. Louis University and stayed there until forced into retirement again (4 1/2 years later) in 1961, at 74 1/2 .
In 1963, he was approached by the Rabbi H. F. Epstein Academy, in St. Louis, to be Principal and coordinator of their new curriculum. He stayed there until 1966, when he retired for the third time, because Ethel's health was failing and he was needed to care for her. He is also a 32nd degree Mason, and was active in the Methodist Church. In May, 1967, Euris and Ethel moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to be near his son, Max and his family.
They [Euris and Ethel] had given birth to a daughter, Beulah, August 11, 1909, in Hayward, Oklahoma, a son Max Eugene, October 16, 1911, in Russellville, Illinois, and a son, Robert Conrad, June 18,1919 in Chandlerville, Illinois. Ethel died September 4, 1969 in Tulsa and is buried in Kirkwood, Missouri. [Euris died on May 12, 1981 in Tulsa, Ok. and was also buried in Kirkwood, Missouri.]
Beulah graduated from Washington University, St. Louis, in June, 1932 with a B. A. degree, at the same time Euris received his M. A . She died on pneumonia on Dec.31, 1932. Not married.
Max served as C.P.O. in the U.S. Navy during World War II, then returned to work for Bethlehem Steel Corp. and moved to Tulsa, Okla. in 1946. He and Nadine Spencer were married in Tulsa on September 12, 1953. They had one daughter born in 1954, and one son born in 1958. Max retired from Bethlehem on November 1, 1976.
Robert was a Marine Corps pilot during World War II. He returned to the States and signed a contract as a commercial pilot to Peru. At the termination of the contract, he stayed in Lima, Peru, where he developed a business of his own - concessions and imports. Robert married Dory Ariansen on September 1, 1957, in Lima, and they had two daughters born in 1958 and 1960."
